1/31/13 7:27 a.m. Good Day! My wifes car is a 2006 Mazda 6 2.3L manual. In every gear at any speed (including idle) the car surges. When you apply a little bit of gas, the car acts like somebody is driving it that is just learning how to drive a stick. Ya know, the buck, buck, buck motion. It still pulls pretty well (it just surges while Diesel Knock! I have a 2006 2.0l (143) diesel TS2 which has developed a fault. On the motorway a couple of weeks ago it developed a judder when accelerating. When I arrived at my destination I noticed a loud knocking/ticking sound coming from the engine. It then began to screech loudly and the revs dropped to around 600rpm.
18184 posts · Joined 2012. #5 · Sep 20, 2023 (Edited) The 2.0 definitely has slightly more torque (264 vs 240 ft lbs) and delivers more of a rush of it when you put your foot down. The 1.6 is more refined and feels a little more like a gasoline engine (and the transmission is tons better sorted than the 6-speed in the Gen 1).
The V-6 is a variant of the Ford Duratec 3.0 liter with aluminum block and head, and variable valve timing. Made in the United States, it will offer a choice of a five-speed manual or five-speed automatic transmission. Remove two bolts that holds filter box, remove two hoses (in/out) and cable. Take "box" out, replace new filter, put back and connect everything again. Operate manual fuel pump till it gets stiffen.
